Born of passion

Bart was born in Callantsoog. At 14, he started working as a dishwashing help at the beach in the hospitality industry. When he was 16, he began training as a chef, then chose to leave the kitchen anyway.

Then he was out of the hospitality industry for several years, but it started itching again and he decided to apply to a hotel. It was his first experience in the hotel business, and after two trial days of participating, he was offered a full-time contract. Bart couldn’t stop going there, he liked it that much.

Incidentally, a golden move because after some time he was offered a new position within the hotel as assistant supervisor
of the F&B. Here he was able to further develop himself for several years and as a result, after 2.5 years he was able to start a new challenge as an all-rounder in the famous IJkgebouw in Alkmaar.

Bart discovered his passion for coffee

During the years Bart worked at ‘t IJkgebouw, he was able to develop himself professionally and personally. At the IJk Building, people work with passion. Bart discovered his passion for coffee.

He found out that the coffee world has many possibilities and that there was also very passionate talk among themselves about making the perfect espresso or roasting the best coffee blend/single-origin.

The selection was large but mostly the same he found. Bart has now developed Bartsbeans with two blends and two single-origin coffees. Bartsbeans stands for the highest quality product at a good price, but responsibly.

For example, the coffee bags are made of recycled paper and
a fair price has been paid to the coffee farmer. Bartsbeans’ coffee is always fresh. That is why there is always a roast date on the package.
